CLIMBING

What do I have to do in order to climb?

  1. Be a member, punch passer, or day passer.
  2. Abide by new facility rules.

I'm a member. What about my monthly guest passes?

Member guest passes have been reinstated as of 6/4/2020.

FITNESS AREA

Is the fitness/cardio area open?

Yes, the fitness/cardio area is open but limited to eight people at a time. Depending on demand, you may have to limit use of this area to 30 minutes.

Physical distancing is required. Sanitizing hands before and after working out, in addition to wiping all equipment before and after use, is also required

FACILITY RULES AND UPDATES

Do I have to wear a mask?

  • Masks are currently not required per the City of KCMO. However, we will continue to offer them for free at the front desk and to follow and notify of any rule changes.

When should I stay home?

We hope this is obvious, but you must stay home if you do not feel well for any reason.

Symptoms to watch out for:

  • cough
  • shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • fever
  • chills
  • muscle pain
  • sore throat
  • new loss of taste or smell

For more information, please visit the CDC website linked here.

What is happening to in person classes like yoga, fitness, and Bouldering 101?

Classes are slowly being phased back in. The most updated information on yoga can be found online here!

What do I have to do related to hygiene?

  • Limit the personal items you bring into the gym.
  • Do not use water bottles or street shoes on the pads.
  • Avoid touching your face.
  • Wash or sanitize your hands before and after climbing or working out.

We will have lots of signs to remind you!

Do we have to practice physical distancing?

Yes, a minimum of six feet must be kept between you and others at all times.
(If you need to have a quick drink or snack, please keep 10+ feet from others or step outside.)

We believe this is crucial and have done our best to help make it as easy as possible by creating spacious climbing zones and scattered seating. However, we need your help to actually implement this. Please be aware of others at all times, including climbers in zones next to yours. Thank you!

More information on why physical distancing is important can be found here.

Do I have to use liquid chalk?

No, but we highly encourage it. Liquid chalk has sanitizing properties which help maintain clean air and will allow staff to focus our cleaning efforts on hard surfaces.

We also have sanitizing spray placed throughout the gym for you to use on your hands. You are required to use that or wash your hands before and after you climb or work out.

What is Sequence doing related to sanitization?

  • All fabric furniture has been removed.
  • Sanitization stations have been added throughout the gym.
  • Sequence staff sanitizes the following high touch areas on at least an hourly basis:
    • Door handles
    • Front desk
    • Tables
    • Bathrooms
  • Sequence staff sanitizes the following at least daily:
    • Chairs
    • Fitness equipment
  • Climbing Holds:
    • Holds go through a two-step process of being pressure-washed and then sprayed with an anti-microbial. Due to the unique nature of gyms, holds cannot be cleaned as frequently as other high-touch surfaces. A small section of holds is taken down weekly, but it takes approximately 6 weeks to get through the entire facility. This is one of the reasons why we encourage wearing masks, sanitizing our hands frequently, and avoiding touching our faces.

What about safety for Sequence staff?

We love our Sequence team and their safety is absolutely our priority. We are only asking staff to work if they feel comfortable in the gym with the updated rules. We also value open dialogue with our staff should their feelings change on the matter.

YOUTH POLICY

What is the new youth policy?

Youth 14 years and under must be accompanied by an adult (18 years or older) on a 1:1 ratio. Both the youth and adult must have individual waivers on file, which can be filled out ahead of time here.

Youth are subject to the same rules as adults, including maintaining physical distance and frequent sanitization.

COVID-19

What happens if COVID-19 is traced back to Sequence?

While we do our best to implement safety measures, there is still a chance that COVID-19 will be traced back to the gym. We will work directly with the Kansas City Health Department to provide any assistance with contact tracing and will follow all requirements and recommendations regarding next steps for the facility, including a closure and appropriate cleaning.
